Overview of the BCS Beginning Teacher Support Program
The intent of a teacher induction program is to provide a systematic structure of support for beginning teachers.
The Beginning Teacher Support Program began in North Carolina schools in 1997 and is designed specifically to meet the needs of teachers who are new to the teaching profession.
Buncombe County provides many layers of support to our Beginning Teachers during the first three years of their teaching career.

Think about the following:
1. Identify one specific teacher from your past who excelled in classroom management. Why do you think that teacher was so effective?
2. At your table make a chart that resembles the one in the photo below. The chart should say, " A terrific teacher..." in the center and be divided into four quadrants as shown. Label each quadrant with "Is...," "Does...," "Says...," and "Does NOT..."
Now, keeping that teacher in mind, list as many specific words or phrases as you can on sticky notes that complete the statement, "A terrific teacher..." for each of the four actions below:
